Privacy policy

Oracynth, Inc. Effective date: June 13, 2026 Last updated: June 13, 2026

This policy describes how Oracynth, Inc. (“Oracynth,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit oracynth.com (the “Site”) or use the Oracynth application (the “App”). By using the Site or App, you agree to this policy.

1. Who we are

Oracynth, Inc. is a Delaware corporation. We build a genealogy and family archive platform. For privacy questions, contact us at privacy@oracynth.com.

2. Information we collect

On the Site

  • Early access signups. If you join the early access list, we collect your email address.
  • Usage and device data. We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the Site, including pages viewed, referring URLs, approximate location (derived from IP), browser type, and device information. Google processes this data per its own privacy policy; you can opt out via the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies and local storage for analytics and to remember preferences. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

In the App

  • Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we do not store your password.
  • Archive content. The App exists to store family archive data you provide: names, dates, relationships, life events, sources, citations, photographs, documents, audio, video, and notes. This content may include sensitive information, including information about health, religion, ethnicity, and family relationships.
  • Information about other people. Family archives inherently contain information about people other than the account holder, including living relatives. You are responsible for ensuring you have a lawful basis to upload information about other living individuals, and for honoring their requests regarding that information. See Section 8.
  • Collaboration data. If you share an archive, we store collaborator roles, invitations, and the email addresses of invitees.
  • Payment information. Paid plans are processed by Stripe, acting as merchant of record. Stripe collects and processes your payment details directly; we never receive or store full payment card numbers. Stripe’s handling of your data is governed by its own privacy policy.
  • Usage and diagnostic data. We collect product analytics (features used, actions taken), error and crash reports, and performance data to operate and improve the App.
  • Support communications. If you contact support, we keep the correspondence and any information you provide.

3. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Site and App
  • Create and manage your account and subscriptions
  • Store, sync, and serve your archive content as directed by you
  • Communicate with you about early access, product updates, and support (you can unsubscribe from marketing email at any time)
  • Monitor performance, diagnose errors, and secure our systems
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your archive content to train AI models. We do not show advertising on the Site or App.

4. AI features

If we introduce optional AI-assisted features, your archive content will be processed by a model provider only when you actively use those features, only to fulfill your request, and not to train the provider’s models. We will update this policy and identify the provider before any such feature launches.

5. Service providers

We share information with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contracts limiting their use of it:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Oracynth, our users, or others. If Oracynth is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction; we will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different policy.

6. Data storage and international transfers

Data is stored in the United States on infrastructure operated by Google Cloud Platform and Cloudflare. If you access the Site or App from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

7. Retention and deletion

  • Early access emails are kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
  • Account and archive data are kept for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or an archive, we delete the associated content from production systems within 30 days, and from backups within 90 days.
  • Analytics and diagnostic data are retained per our providers’ standard retention windows and our internal schedules, then deleted or aggregated.

You can export your archive data at any time in open formats.

8. Information about living third parties

Archives often describe living people who are not Oracynth users. If you believe an Oracynth user has uploaded information about you and you want it reviewed or removed, contact privacy@oracynth.com. We will work with the archive owner to address your request, and where required by applicable law we will remove or restrict the information ourselves.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, email privacy@oracynth.com. We will verify your identity before acting on a request and respond within the time required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases for processing are: performance of a contract (providing the App), legitimate interests (operating, securing, and improving our services), consent (marketing email, optional features), and legal obligation. You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

If you are a California resident, the categories of personal information we collect are described in Section 2, the purposes in Section 3, and the recipients in Section 5. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA/CPRA.

10. Children

The Site and App are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from them. Archive content uploaded by adult users may describe minors in their family; the account holder is responsible for that content. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact privacy@oracynth.com and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and network isolation of internal systems. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you and regulators as required by law.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and, for material changes, notify you by email or in-app notice before the change takes effect.
